If you are like most Americans, you have a nice home, two cars, and a closet full of shoes. However, there are children who begin their day with barely enough to wear, no clean water, and NO SHOES. For lack of adequate footwear, thousands of children in Uganda suffer from a crippling foot parasite called jiggers.
Now you have a chance to save a life by doing a remote service project. You will recycle old blue jeans and plastic jugs into the materials needed to construct simple shoes. The shoe uppers that we produce will be shipped to Africa where they will be sewn and attached to outer soles made from recycled tires. Local tailors and shoemakers create the finished shoes which are distributed through medical clinics.
