Who We Are
We empower generations to better the world through science and scientific thinking. We work to effect systemic change in elementary school science education by teaching students, training teachers, and engaging the scientific community.
What We Do
SiE is committed to closing the access and achievement gaps. In response to the pandemic and distance learning, we developed two programs: Virtual Learning and SiE Books.
SiE Books are line-drawing illustrated short books that allow young students (5-7 years of age) to do hands-on science experiments on their own, and require little to no reading.
We are providing these books, along with necessary materials, to children who lack internet access and are additionally disadvantaged due to distance learning. To further the kids' scientific thinking skills, an adult guide with science background and thought-provoking questions for children is included. Materials are in English and Spanish.
